Live Music, Barbeque contests, Karaoke, and the DARE Kids Fishing Tournament are just some of the excitement of the Jim Bowie Festival.

And Don't Forget the Sandbar Fight Re-Enactment!

Famous historian, Jack Edmonson portrays Col. James Bowie as he relates the details of the fight that made the man and the Bowie Knife famous. Local actors and re-enactors portray the true characters who took part in the duel and the fight.

Backyard Barbeque

And New to the Festival,
Amateur Ribs Contest

A series of fun contests for the amateur barbeque-er, the Backyard Barbeque is an "Anything Butt" event that includes Beef, Fowl, and Tropical Drink categories on Friday night and a Ribs contest for non-professionals on Saturday. Contestants still have to follow a few rules, but fun is the main objective!

Live Music

Musical entertainment takes many forms Saturday on the Main Stage. We'll start off the day with some great Gospel Music, then move on to Country, Rock, Blues, and maybe a little Zydeco. It's a favorite musical form in this part of Louisiana.

Festival Welcomes T. Graham Brown!

Award-winning Country artist T. Graham Brown graces the stage Saturday afternoon at the Jim Bowie Festival, bringing his Blue- eyed Soul sound and his band, The Mighty Rack of Spam. With a CMA Award, twelve Top Ten Hits, and a voice that defies musical boundaries, "His T-Ness is in constant demand.

Besides a brilliant Country music career, Brown hit the top of the Christian Country Music chart in 1998 with the single "Wine Into Water," which inspired the lives of countless individuals.

T. Graham Brown is scheduled to appear at 3:30 pm Saturday.

Louisiana State BBQ Championship

Our Barbeque Championship is divided into categories - Shoulder, Whole Hog, Ribs, and Grand Prize. Professional cooks from all over the U.S. take part in our official state contest, and they return year after year!
