"Town Hall Meeting" with Gov. Jindal

Governor Bobby Jindal came to the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center, speaking to a large group of citizens and dignitaries, and answering questions from the crowd.

In a short speech, Jindal summarized his time in office so far, describing changes to Louisiana's workforce development policies, his plan to deter political corruption through full disclosure, and his push to keep good teachers and good jobs in Louisiana.

According to the Governor, businesses were looking to stay in or relocate to Louisiana based on the changes they had seen in the state's political atmosphere and availability of trained labor.

Next, the Governor took questions from the audience, a room-filling crowd that included a large number of Natchezians.

One question, from a local employee of DHH (Department of Health & Hospitals), addressed the local office's lack of a building.  After their old building developed a mold problem, Vidalia had offered a building free of charge, but DHH had not responded to the request for permission to move.

Other questions involved the workforce development plan he outlined, in which he was asking businesses to say what type of training was needed instead of leaving it up to bureaucrats.

There were also questions about government support of projects and educational tools such as the St. Joseph Orchestra.

Later, Governor Jindal shook hands and spoke to individuals in the audience.
