Join the Gang, Have Some Fun!
Last year was a successful one for the Vidalia Chamber. The Jim Bowie Festival attracted more visitors to the area than ever before, and lots of professional BBQ contestants. The Golf Scramble was a rousing success, and if you attended the Awards Dinner at the end of the year you know that a fun time was had by all.
But it didn't "just happen."
Our successes were due to a great bunch of men and women who gave some of their time and effort to make it so. Ask them and they'll tell you what a fun time they had doing it.
So why aren't you in that group?
None of it is hard work, it just takes a bit of a commitment to see the job through.
Does anyone remember that old TV commercial for Rice Krispies Treats? Mom rumples her apron, dusts her face with flour, then marches out of the kitchen with (VERY easy-to-make) treats, as if she had slaved in the kitchen all day to make them.
That's a bit like being on our event committees. Some of it looks difficult, and you get a lot of pats on the back for being a "hard worker" when all the time you were having fun and hanging around with some great people!
We could really use your help to make this year a big success, but people don't volunteer for such things because they're afraid it's going to be too hard or take too much time.
Yes, you'll have to go to some meetings - big deal! It's really easy. You get together with other committee members, do a little organizing, make a few phone calls and decisions - and maybe even play a little golf. Then reap the benefits of putting on a successful event.
And by the way, it's another way of networking with people you may very well do business with.
Gee, I hate when that happens, somebody sees me do a good thing so they want to do business with me - Heaven forbid!

Chamber Meetings
The Vidalia Chamber meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Comfort Suites on the Vidalia RiverFront. Meetings are at Noon. Lunch for members is $10, non-members - $12.
